Tillie!

Success!

Tillie has, after ten days of patient feeding, yielded her first loaf - a yummy, sourdough round loaf!

Next week: Tillie tries challah (are you up for the taste test, M.H.?) and whole wheat bread.

A fine looking loaf! How does this whole thing work again? You just use Tillie over and over again? She doesn't get all moldy and stuff?

Tillie doesn't actually get moldy because she is ALIVE (evil Dr. Frankenstein cackle here)! The wild yeast and lactobacillus bacteria consume what they are fed (flour and water) once a week while they live in my fridge. I'm not enough of a chemist to know what keeps the mold at bay...

Do they have Peapod out there? That looks too good to be true.

Huh? Josh, what does an online grocery delivery service have to do with anything?
